Refreshed for 2024: BMW’s High-Performance M4 Gets a Stylish Upgrade

Scheduled to commence production next month at Dingolfing in Germany, the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe and Convertible represent a notable advancement over their predecessors, boasting enhanced performance across all fronts.

Set to debut in Australia in the second quarter alongside the mainstream 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, the revamped M4 lineup promises a thrilling driving experience. Drawing inspiration from BMW GT3 race car technology, these models deliver heightened speed, agility, and stability, coupled with a slew of new features and a refreshed aesthetic.

Comprising three variants of the Coupe and one Convertible, the lineup includes the M4 Coupe with a six-speed manual transmission (RWD), the M4 Competition Coupe (RWD 8AT), the M4 Competition Coupe xDrive (AWD 8AT), and the M4 Competition Convertible xDrive (AWD 8AT), anticipated to be a global bestseller.

Starting at $168,700 excluding on-road costs for the manual M4 Coupe, pricing reflects a slight increase from previous iterations. Positioned against competitors like Mercedes-AMG’s C63 Coupe and Cabrio and Audi’s RS5 Coupe, BMW emphasizes the M4’s superior power, design enhancements, customization options, and digital innovations.

Under the hood, the M4 boasts a twin-turbocharged inline-six engine available in three configurations, offering varying levels of power output. Engineered with race-derived features, including a rigid crankcase design and advanced cooling systems, the powertrain delivers exceptional responsiveness and performance.

Meticulously calibrated for both road and track use, the M4 features an aerodynamic package optimized for high-speed stability and engine cooling. With a focus on agility and steering precision, BMW’s M division has fine-tuned the M4’s chassis and drivetrain, incorporating rear-wheel biased all-wheel drive and a fully variable active M differential.

Beyond performance enhancements, the MY24 BMW M4 introduces updated safety technologies, a plethora of customizable options, and a range of aesthetic updates, including new headlights, laser taillights, forged alloy wheels, and interior trims. Additionally, the inclusion of BMW Operating System 8.5 enhances the overall driving experience, promising a seamless integration of technology and performance.
