Subaru Revives Club Spec Edition for WRX

Subaru Australia has unveiled the revival of its famed WRX Club Spec special edition for 2024. Continuing the tradition, this iteration will be strictly limited to just 150 units.

In contrast to the Club Spec Evo models of the late 90s and early 2000s, distinguished by unique decals, wheels, leather interiors, and other cosmetic enhancements, the new Club Spec SE focuses on substantial performance upgrades.

With the discontinuation of the rally-inspired STI for the fifth generation WRX, which marked the end of nearly three decades of exhilarating experiences since its inception in 1994, the Club Spec SE reintroduces the STI allure to the current WRX lineup.

Equipped with upgraded Brembo brakes featuring ventilated and drilled rotors, a prominent rear wing, Recaro sports seats, 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, exclusive badging, and specially tuned suspension and steering, the Club Spec SE stands out.

While previous Club Spec editions never saw adjustments to the engine output, it’s expected that power from the 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine will remain unchanged at 202kW/350Nm, despite Subaru’s official announcement not mentioning it.

Available solely with a six-speed manual transmission, the Club Spec SE underscores its performance-oriented nature and spirited demeanor, making it the sole WRX model without an automatic (CVT) option.

Aligned with the features of other MY24 WRX models, the manual Club Spec SE now incorporates Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist system, boasting advanced safety functionalities like adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keep assist, lane centering, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, and pre-collision braking.

Priced at $52,590 plus on-road costs, the Subaru WRX Club Spec SE represents a $5100 premium over the base model WRX, offering enthusiasts the coveted STI go-fast elements and heightened performance.

“The Club Spec name holds a special place for WRX enthusiasts, with the first Club Spec introduced in the late nineties and remaining a highly sought-after special edition since then,” remarked Subaru Australia director Blair Read.

“Featuring the quintessential WRX special edition ingredients of 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, and STI style rear spoiler, this limited run of only 150 units promises to be truly exceptional.”

Subaru has officially opened orders for the Club Spec, although, with the limited availability of just 150 units, it’s anticipated to sell out swiftly.
