A coupe-style Polestar 4 SUV is set to arrive in August.

POLESTAR has confirmed the pricing for its upcoming medium-large Polestar 4 coupe SUV during a press reveal held in Sydney last week. The stylish five-seater will start from $81,500 for the single motor variant, with the dual motor version priced from $93,050—both prices excluding on-road costs.

The Polestar 4 is slated to arrive in August, following closely behind the slightly larger Polestar 3 SUV, which is set to debut Down Under in July. These newcomers will join the Polestar 2, which has been available in the market for a few years.

The Polestar 4 will face tough competition from rivals such as Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 starting at $65,000, the BMW iX3 priced from $89,100, and potentially the Mercedes-Benz EQC starting at $87,734, not to mention Tesla’s Model Y starting at $65,400—all prices excluding on-road costs. Additionally, new entrants like Subaru’s Solterra AWD starting at $69,990 and Toyota’s bZ4x RWD priced from $66,000 add further competition to the mix.

The Polestar 4’s design details were revealed a couple of months ago, with the latest focus being on its innovative virtual rear window. Instead of a traditional rear window, the Polestar 4 utilizes a bank of cameras, sensors, and a digital rearview mirror to provide visibility behind the vehicle.

Graeme Lambert from Polestar highlighted that eliminating the rear window helped achieve an intriguing design with streamlined coupe aerodynamics, made possible by the absence of a traditional engine. This design choice also allowed for increased rear-seat headroom and a panoramic glass roof, providing a spacious and luxurious experience akin to a business-class environment.

Drawing inspiration from the Polestar Precept concept, the Polestar 4 boasts distinctive features such as dual blade headlights and a unique lighting signature backlighting the Polestar emblem. Other Precept cues include a low frontal mask, retractable door handles, flush DLO with frameless door glass, rear aero blades, and a rear light bar.

Measuring 4840mm in length, 2139mm in width, and 1534mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2999mm, the Polestar 4 offers ample space inside, accentuated by features like electrically reclinable rear seats and selectable ambient lighting. Sustainable materials are used throughout the interior, including bio-attributed MicroTech, Mist Tailored Knit Textile, and responsibly sourced Nappa leather.

The Polestar 4 comes equipped with an Android-powered infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, accessed via a 15.4-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen. Google integration, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play, enhances connectivity. An optional Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and a 1400-watt channel-hybrid amplifier is available.

Performance-wise, the Polestar 4 is the fastest production car from Polestar yet, boasting a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds for the AWD dual motor variant. With a maximum power rating of 400kW/686Nm, it offers a range target of 580km (WLTP). The single-motor Polestar 4 delivers 200kW/343Nm to the rear wheels, with a range target of up to 610km (WLTP). Both models feature a 100kWh battery pack, with fast charging capabilities.

Standard safety features include seven airbags, SuperVision ADAS technology, a 10.2-inch instrument panel, and a 14.7-inch head-up display with Snow mode. Optional safety features include the Pilot Pack with auto lane change assist.

With a plethora of standard equipment and additional customizable packages, the Polestar 4 aims to deliver a premium driving experience with advanced technology and sustainable design principles.
