New Mini Hatch Set to Launch in Q3 Starting at $42,000 Plus On-Road Costs

Mini is set to unveil its latest lineup of three-door hatch models in Q3 of this year, featuring both combustion and electric powertrains. Prices start from $41,990 excluding on-road costs for the base model Cooper C variant.

This new range from Mini, which complements the existing Countryman and Aceman models, offers two petrol variants, the Cooper C and Cooper S, alongside two electric models, the Cooper E and Cooper SE.

Celebrating its 65th anniversary, Mini introduces a fresh design and advanced technology suite, including a 240mm round OLED center console screen. The brand aims to maintain its cherished charm while embracing modern innovations.

Of particular interest are the enhanced driving ranges of the electric models, now reaching up to 305km for the Cooper E and 402km for the Cooper SE.

The petrol-powered Cooper C utilizes a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine producing 115kW and 230Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Cooper S features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 150kW and 400Nm, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.

The electric variants start with the Cooper E, equipped with a 41kWh battery delivering 135kW of power and 290Nm of torque. With an upgraded battery pack, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and provides up to 305km of range.

The Cooper SE boasts a larger 54kWh battery and a more powerful motor, generating 160kW/330Nm and accelerating from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Both electric models offer DC fast charging capabilities, enabling rapid recharges in as little as 28 minutes to 80 percent capacity.

Mini’s new model comes with an elevated specification, featuring standard equipment such as a head-up display, keyless entry, and Mini Experience Modes, accessible through the central display. These modes offer customized sounds, visuals, and colors for an immersive driving experience.

By introducing these two new electric variants, BMW Group Australia will expand its fully electric lineup to 20 variants by Q3 2024, solidifying its position as a leader in electric vehicle offerings in the country.

Mini Australia and New Zealand’s general manager, Matt Schmidt, emphasized the brand’s enduring appeal and commitment to delivering memorable driving experiences with the new Mini Cooper lineup.
