The Rivian R3 little electric SUV has been uncovered – close by a superior execution R3X form with three electric engines – in front of plans to universally sell the new vehicles.

Plans for an Australian send off are yet to be affirmed, yet Rivian says the R3 and R3X will be “accessible globally following their North American send off,” which is no less than two years away – and they are supposed to be underlying right-hand drive for the UK market.

The R3 is supposed to be near a BYD Atto 3 or MG ZS EV in size, given it has a 135mm-more limited wheelbase – and more limited front and back overhangs – than the Tesla Model Y-sized, 4715mm-long Rivian R2.

Costs are yet to be reported, yet Rivian guarantees the R3 will be less expensive than the $US45,000 ($AU69,000) R2 SUV.

The new minimized models appear as little SUVs, with huge haggles profiles that have been compared to 1980s Volkswagen Golf GTI or Lancia Delta Integrale hot hatchbacks.

They have five entryways and five seats, with a conventional liftgate backside – including an initial back window like BMW carts – and an extra room under the cap.

The R3X is separated by more extensive wheels, off-road tires, wheel-curve flares, orange accents, and a back spoiler.

Inside, there are double screens, a basic controlling wheel with two dials, glass rooftop, and seat trim envisioned in white in the R3, and tan in the R3X.

Supported by a similar stage as the bigger R2, the R3 territory will offer two battery sizes – with a decision of single-engine back tire drive or double engine all-wheel drive in the R3, and standard tri-engine all-wheel drive in the R3X.

No specialized particulars have been affirmed, yet in the bigger and heavier R2, Rivian asserts more than 550km of assessed driving reach in European WLTP testing (or 483km in additional rigid US tests) from the biggest battery, and 0-60mph (97km/h) in under three seconds.

The battery pack shapes part of the construction of the vehicle, and uses new 4695 (46mm breadth, 95mm tall) cell innovation professed to be more energy thick than past Rivian batteries.

A 10 to 80 percent quick charge can supposedly be finished in under 30 minutes, through a NACS charging port in North American-conveyed models.

The R3 and R3X are fitted with 11 cameras, five radars and more impressive processing equipment than past Rivians.

Subtleties on send off timing and estimating is yet to be unveiled, yet Rivian says the R3 and R3X are expected after the R2 goes into creation in the main portion of 2026.
