Peugeot Australia has revealed the specifications and pricing for its updated 2008 small SUV lineup this week.

The range will consist of two petrol-powered variants, set to hit showrooms soon with prices starting at $39,990 plus on-road costs.

This marks a $1050 increase from the previous starting price of the outgoing range.

Both Allure and GT grades aim to underline Peugeot Australia’s dedication to technological advancements and captivating design.

Following the petrol models, the highly anticipated E-2008 battery electric model is expected to join the lineup later in the year.

Emphasizing style, the Peugeot 2008 has been redesigned to exude a more upscale appearance, characterized by an elegant, powerful, and alluring aesthetic, according to the French automaker.

The refreshed exterior design showcases updated three-claw DRLs, a redesigned grille with color-coded slats matching the body paint, and tail lights featuring a striking 3D effect.

Enhancements such as matte black badging, including on the door sill font for GT grades, contribute to the refined look of the updated 2008, with the Peugeot logo now appearing on both the grille and steering wheel.

Additional upgrades include chrome exhaust tips, Nera black wing mirror caps, and Karakoy diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels on both model grades.

The MY24 Peugeot 2008 range boasts new features such as front parking sensors, a high-definition reversing camera, keyless entry, and ignition, TomTom-connected navigation, and over-the-air firmware updates.

Inside the cabin, Peugeot has refined the i-Cockpit arrangement for improved ergonomics and driving pleasure. The updated 10.0-inch high-definition touchscreen offers enhanced clarity and responsiveness.

The infotainment system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with USB-C and USB-A interfaces and charging ports. GT grades additionally feature wireless device charging.

The digitized instrument cluster measures 10.0 inches and offers 3D projection on GT grades.

GT variants come equipped with LED ambient cabin lighting, synchronized with the vehicle’s driving mode. LED headlights and adaptive cruise control are now standard on the high-spec grade.

Optionally, the GT variant offers a Style Pack, including 18-inch Evissa alloy wheels in Onyx black and a sunroof, for an additional $2500.

Color options include standard finish Selenium Grey, metallic finish Artense Grey, Nera Black, or Okenite White (+$690), and premium finish Elixir Red or Vertigo Blue (+$1050).

Powering the Peugeot 2008 is a three-cylinder 1.2-liter PureTech petrol engine, generating 96kW at 5500rpm and 230Nm at 1750rpm, paired with an eight-speed EAT8-series automatic transmission.

The combined cycle fuel consumption is listed at 5.4 liters per 100km, with CO2 emissions of 123 grams per kilometer.

Peugeot offers a five-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty with roadside assistance included. Capped-price servicing is available for five years (or 75,000km), with total maintenance costs amounting to $2392 for the period.

Customers can opt for upfront service packages for three, four, or five years, priced at $950, $1400, and $1700 respectively.

Competing in the popular SUV Small under $45K segment, the Peugeot 2008 faces rivals such as the MG ZS, Hyundai Kona, and GWM Haval Jolion. Year-to-date sales figures show that 2008 has sold just 73 examples, trailing behind segment leaders with 6291, 3999, and 3460 unit sales respectively.
