Volvo Unveils S60 and XC60 Black Edition Models

Volvo Car Australia is introducing Black Edition variants of its S60 sedan and XC60 SUV ranges starting in April.

These models feature an exclusive high-gloss Onyx Black exterior, grille, and badging, and will be exclusively available in the Ultimate T8 plug-in hybrid format, offered in limited quantities.

Volvo emphasizes that the Black Edition variants are further distinguished by black window framing and distinctive double-spoke high-gloss black 21-inch alloy wheels on XC60 models, and 19-inch alloy wheels on the S60.

Inside, both vehicles boast a black theme, with combined black Nappa leather and leatherette textile upholstery, along with ventilated front seats. They also feature contrasting metal mesh aluminum garnishing, a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors, and a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel with built-in Google integration.

These additions complement standard features such as a panoramic sunroof, Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, heated front seats and steering wheel, graphical head-up display, air suspension with Four-C Active Chassis (XC60), adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, 360-degree camera system, park assist, and various driver information technologies.

Both the S60 and XC60 Black Edition are powered by the same four-cylinder turbocharged engine and electric motor combination available in their respective derivative models. This setup delivers 233kW/400Nm petrol and 107kW/309Nm electric motive power, enabling the S60 to achieve a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds and the XC60 4.8 seconds.

Fuel economy is rated at 1.4 litres per 100km and 1.6 litres per 100km respectively for the duo, with CO2 emissions of 32 grams per kilometre and 39 grams per kilometre. The S60 sedan has a braked towing capacity of 2000kg, while the XC60 SUV can tow up to 2250kg.

Stephen Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Australia, commented, “The Black Edition of our XC60 and S60 models embody Volvo’s Scandinavian luxury with a distinctive design. With their sleek, high-gloss paintwork, distinctive alloy wheels, and a sophisticated all-black interior, these limited editions exude a unique persona – these vehicles stand out from the crowd.”

The Volvo S60 and XC60 Black Edition models will be available for sale from early April.
